What is success?

Success has been defined as an achievement of a goal according to Wikipedia and also mentioned as a level of social status. If a man/woman is considered to be successful, what do actually other people think from their point of view? Some people in Indonesia still believe and look at other people successful if they are rich… what do you think? The Coach thinks.. YES… people have to be rich to be successful. Don’t get the Coach wrong, rich has never got to do with Money! Rich should mean full of something.. can be networks, ideas, knowledge, but not sh#t. Money comes along with it… do you need money? of course.. but the most important thing is.. you should know how to get the money! ok we are not talking about money here.. so she’s out.

If people have to be rich to be successful, meaning that even a rich man/woman is still not successful? Yes.. is there anything to do with happiness? Yes… If successful, are they happy? Yes again… Now the Coach has something to say..

Happiness is a condition where people have what they want… Coach say… aren’t you happy if you could be together with your family on the weekend? getting all employee to follow what you have wanted? all smooth in your shipments? now.. is the level of happiness the same among people? No… so what is the general level so everybody can understand? don’t be surprise.. there is none.. Happiness is TEMPORARY in real life… Coach say.. but achievable at a point in time. If you are still breathing as human being where satisfaction has double standard… once you reach a happiness level, your level of expectation is also growing… so what is Happy ever after? that is happiness after you are six feet under…

So is successful continuous? No also… it is temporary but achievable at a point in time. neither Rich then? of course not.

Then.. what is your goal here? if being Rich not really a success because being Rich is not enough to be happy so being successful is suppose to be the goal.. so you can be happy.. Nope… we should aim for happiness as a goal… you should have seen a movie starred by Will Smith named A Pursuit of Happiness? that is what you need to pursuit, but you must be a successful people first because honestly Coach is a bit difficult to understand if you could reach happiness without being successful.

So.. Successful is the road for you to pursuit the happiness… You have to find the path… Rich is your vehicle… is it a bike, motorcycle, car, or an airplane? As you understand that it is temporary, bare in mind that everything has to be sustainable.. Coach say.

Define your Richness.. what is your vehicle? what do you have now? if you say money.. sorry it is not gonna get you anywhere. again, you should understand how to use the money. Do you have friends? enemies even? knowledge? tools? ideas? job position? authority? it is everything but money that can drive you to find the path of success.

Where is the path or road? it is so close to you. Your surroundings… Successful people is always followed by other people, correct? look at Mario Teguh, Kick Andy, or your role model/idol’s Facebook account… quite a great number of follower, aren’t there? What does that mean? It means that successful people give blessing to other people and the followers feel linked up with these successful people.

Coach definition for the success path that you’d need to look for is “being blessed for your surroundings”. So, after you have got your vehicle.. whatever it is… teach other people, make other people smile, make them convenient being next to you (not literally). That is the road that will have process.

Imagine that you are a boss and very wealthy (now am talking about money) but your employees always feel under paid (this is relative – am not talking about the amount but “what they feel”), and final word, they are never happy working with you – level of people traffic is huge… do you consider you are successful as their boss/leader – is that the right path? Coach answer to you is this: if you feel happiness or have got what you want from your employees, then yes.. that is the right path.. if not, then you are not in the right path of success. But Coach is wondering.. if the traffic is huge and your people are not happy, Coach is not too sure you would answer the first one.

Now how to get on the right track? giving your employee huge salary? no.. giving them something positive will be. Teaching, Leading, Managing, Motivating, Sharing, Treating them like your friend (they are eventually) will give them more than money.

If you are blessed for other people – remember this – all successful people might’ve said this… “The more you give, the more you would get or You will get what you give”. Look at Tiger Woods, Warren Buffet, Michael Jackson, and else… on million Dollars that they have spent for society through their NGO.

Our point of view and vision are at the end as well… we want to give more to other people… setting up education, scholarship, employments, organization for orphans, etc. See those beyond everything and try to track back to plan it – as Stephen R Covey mentioned in 7 habits.
