3 Keys of Attitude to Grow and Develop Yourself

Get the Correct Attitude

 Everybody will talk about attitude when it comes to growth and potentiality of a person. You must have heard people talking that they like this guy or that guy better because of the attitude. What is ATTITUDE actually? You might have tried so hard to behave as nice and polite as possible at your work but just never got enough to your Boss to promote you? What is the matter? Then why people talking that great attitude should be the key to success?

Coach says ATTITUDE is “Delivering what is expected by other people

This has got nothing to do with NICE, POLITE, TALK SOFTLY, SIT NICELY, DRESSED UP, etc… NO! You must figure out what is expected by the people in your surroundings then you deliver it… That is the “correct attitude”.

So then it is very vague? YES indeed… perhaps you had experience of delivering good attitude but turned up the counterparty thought you went all wrong?!  Check this out… You would not expect a boxing fighter to smile during the rumble, would you? Or would you expect to wear a very nice suit and a tie during a mine field trip?

Being polite and nice is necessary… But… what is the occasion? Coach says as a human being, we must be able to LISTEN, THINK and INTERACT so you could understand what “the correct attitude” is for such occasion.

LISTENING is the first key of attitude as in order. What does this mean? This doesn’t mean literally to listen with your ears but it is an attitude to accept information to your conscious. Some people may say, “I don’t know this” or “I cannot do it”, etc. that have created an attitude to themselves that affects their behavior, action and social lives to close the door for information that actually might be useful for them. Hence, as the first key, listening should mean to open your door of mind to gather and accept information. This should be applicable with any kind of terms of listening such as “to watch and learn”, “to feel”, “to read between the lines”, “to understand”, etc.

Coach says that LISTENING is very important first step to enhance self development and grow. Start from here and get your mind open.

THINKING is the second key. Unless you are out of your mind, you are able to think as a human being… no matter how simple your thinking creation would be. Don’t get caught by the terms of genius or smart, this is just simply an option for you to do, which are THINK or DON’T THINK… right? It is like when you are typing your work in a computer, you have options to “save or not save” don’t you? Always SAVE it as you might need it later! You must understand that your brain is the largest capacity hardware ever built in the world… Coach says! @sdcoach

Get yourselves being used to think these below questions after you have ‘listened’:

1. The purpose of the information?

Any information should have a purpose whether you know it or not, even simple information such as your lunch receipt that is giving you legitimate prove by law that you have paid the bill once you got the receipt – it is a big deal!

2. What are the references?

References are the relationship that can attach to the information… Coach says. For example, if you may read information about Mobile Phone that you have just bought; some of you might cross your mind how good the looks of casing, color, features are. Get used to think of the references to get more information such as the maker, built, website, official stores, comparison with others, etc. No need to be thorough yet… but just think about it.

 3. What are the options?

Think about the options to get this information useful. Think schematic and write them down if you need not to forget. Simple example: you have got information that you should be allowed to reimburse parking fee back to your office. After getting the purpose and references of the information, think of the options: TAKE IT or LEAVE IT? Of course you would take it but it is an option, isn’t it? Other option is ACT NOW or LATER? See the purpose of thinking the options – “to get the information useful”. Normally there is time limit or period to register your car/motorbike, ACT NOW is useful.  Keep going until you feel to think enough so you could move to the next questions.

 4. Whom you might need to talk to after this information being gathered and accepted?

Why is this important? This is where you are actually cross-checking your thinking with other people and to test it out – it is on the next step, INTERACT. Sort the people out and make selections. It is like an advertisement, you should have target market.

 

Coach says that THINKING is a gift from GOD to human and should be optimized. Get these questions above continuously, consistently, and sustainably then you would see the difference of growth and development within you.

 

INTERACTING is the third key of attitude. As a human being, nothing is more beauty than interacting with other people. You may call yourself shy or don’t have many friends… but you should realize that you do interact with other people surround you even if it is your mom, dad, wife, kids, waiter at your favorite coffee shop (even just to say “I’d like a cola please”). Talk, Email, BBM, Tweet, Facebook or any other method of interaction that you could apply to get the information become useful after you think about it. But of course… pay attention on the point number 4 above “think on whom you might need to talk to”. If you have gone for an interview in another company, do you think posting in on Facebook or Twitter would do any good? Your colleague may see it; your interviewer may add you and see it.

 Coach says that INTERACTING is the action role of the above. By interacting, you would get to see the effect of the information and to counter your way of thinking. Don’t be afraid to interact… they are all just human same as you.
